Beautiful Skin
by Charlotte Burdall
My skin has been through a rollercoaster ride the past few days, months and years but I am finally on track to getting it clear again. I have had deep, aggressive spots and black heads that only should ever be seen The Pimple Doctor (if you haven’t watched their videos you have to but make sure you’re not eating!!) and mountains on my face that are what I can only imagine feels like Everest. Over the last few months I have been working on clearing my skin so I wanted to share my beautiful, clear skin top tips with you all so here goes…
- Cut down on sugar – Sugar creates more testosterone, the more testosterone you have the oilier your skin will become and your pores will increase in size. The bigger your pores the more dirt and bacteria that can collect inside of them and therefore increase your risk of spotty skin
- Eat less food containing dairy – I don’t have any intolerances to dairy and I am a huge fan of cheese but I have found that eating less dairy has really improved the texture of my skin. The hormones in milk react with the natural testosterone in your body and increase the production of sebum, making your skin oilier and can cause the blocking of pores.
- Drink more water – I heard that drinking water really does help your skin for years and years. I was always really reluctant to believe this and I was quite happy with my cups of black coffee and my regular cups of water but I decided to give it a go once and for all – to REALLY increase my water intake. I bought myself a 2L bottle of water and every morning filled it with some sugar free dilute and topped it up with water. I have been drinking my water everyday for two months now and I am so, so, surpised with the difference that it has made. My skin is plumper, pimple free and definitely more radiant.
- Avoid wearing makeup regularly – I really don’t wear a lot of makeup but makeup can clog your pores if you don’t wash it off properly. I don’t wear any makeup Monday to Friday and this gives my skin a chance to breathe properly!
- Try not to touch your face – I know this sounds simple but every time you touch your face you are transferring bacteria onto your skin and we really don’t want to create a haven for bacteria do we? Please also don’t squeeze spots because you are transferring bacteria deep into your skin and the spot heeling process will be increased.
- Wash your face straight after the gym – I don’t like to leave any sweat on my skin after my gym session so I wash my face as soon as I leave the gym, I even do this before showering to make sure I have really cleaned my skin.
THE HOLY GRAIL
I know I have left this until last but they do say last but definitely not least and for me this is the most important change that I have made. I have changed my skincare routine. I know a lot of you use products that you swear by and as did I but I cannot recommend these products enough. So, I started using @deciem products six months ago and I have slowly but surely added new products to my routine and quite frankly I am AMAZED by the results.
I’m going to tell you a little about the products that I use because I absolutely love them but @deciem have a huge range of products to suite every complexion. The range that I use is called the ‘Ordinary’ and the results are EXTRAORDINARY let me tell you!!
AM: Wash face with cold water and lightly towel dry. Apply Salicylic Acid 2% Solution mixed with Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. Let this soak in for 5 minutes then I use Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.
PM: Wash face with cold water and lightly towel dry. Apply Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% mixed with Marine Hyaluronics and Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. Let this soak in for 5 minutes then I use 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
Bi-Weekly– AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution DO NOT USE ON BROKEN SKIN
These are the things that have worked for my skin, I still get hormonal breakouts and blemishes but I can’t tell you how much my skin has improved. I now have more confidence and more radiance in my skin and I don’t worry about going out the house without any makeup on and I really hope that I can give you that feeling too!!
Make sure you do your own research too before trying anything new and remember small steps give you big results so be patient and the results will come!
